It was yesterday, by the way -- August 26th, or "Boxing Day in August" as Kate likes to say.

Kate came home and I made a nice dinner with some special ingredients:

• Fresh corn on the cob
• Sauted spinach and baby bok choi with garlic and onion
• Broiled Portobello mushroom with orange tomatoes and melted brie

For dessert, some Mapleton's organic french vanilla ice cream with chocolate cake.

(Can you tell I went shopping at the health food store?)

[image:531,left,10,10]For an "event", I had invited a bunch of people to join us for bingo at The Side Door Bingo on Wellington. At Kate's request, I might add, because she received the card at right. Inside was a certificate for a free coffee and a dabber on her birthday. A coffee mug, too, I think, but since the manager also gave all of us free pop and dabbers (you know, for being new there), we didn't want to push our luck. Unlike last time, Kate didn't win. Alix came close to win $1000 -- she was literally one number away (a guy got bingo, but the next number up was the one Alix would have needed to win...).
