After staring at it for days upon days, the thought suddenly dawned on me - Marine Aquarium, combined with the capability of control like in the Maxis Sim series, is going to be the future of education, if not for girls, then certainly for boys. Surveys are now showing statistically significant deficits in average grades through highschool and University for males compared to females, which is going to be of major concern for educatiors if it increases, or persists. Products like Marine Aquarium appeal fundamentally to both genders, but particularly for the video-game generation of mostly males - it is a highly visual, highly engaging medium that, combined with educational content, could be the most successful new type of "computer-based learning" in the coming decades, at least.
