Creating .term files and SSH shortcuts

Open Terminal. Hit Command-Shift-K or select File -> Connect to Server…

On the right, hit the plus sign to enter a new IP address or host name of a server you want to connect to. Select the newly created IP address / host name, select the protocol on the left, and type in a user name if applicable.

Hit Connect and a new Terminal window will open. Change the Window settings as desired, then select File -> Save and save this .term file somewhere (I have a folder called Terminal Shortcuts that I keep in the Documents folder).

Drag this .term file to your dock, and you now have one-click access to a command line login on your remote server. For bonus points, paste a custom icon onto the .term file so you can easily differentiate between different servers.
