Session Border Controllers combined with firewalls

Good overview on Session Border Controllers -- essentially, they are needed to make VoIP work across firewalls and between NAT'd devices. Makes sense that they would essentially be integrated with firewalls.

It looks as though SBC technology would be best applied inside other networking gear, like firewalls and switches, it shouldn't surprise anyone when existing network equipment companies begin to buy the SBC vendors.

why would anyone buy?

this stuff is not complicated to build. But execs would see it the opposite way - why build when you can buy? Nextone and Acme rule this market.

I disagree. We looked at all

I disagree. We looked at all of the current vendors, and chose Jasomi's PeerPoint SBC because it was the only one with a strong focus on security. Plus, it helped that it actually worked, which many of the others didn't (not too well anyway).
