YASN rankings *aren't* newsworthy

First of all, a sincere congratulations to Italian IT consultant Carmelo Cutuli, who has now made the top 30 most connected people on LinkedIn. And I'm all for creative use of press releases, but is this really newsworthy?
Online Business Networks: LinkedIn rankings are now newsworthy?

Funny, I just declined Carmelo's request to connect today -- for the second time. What Carmelo is doing is the social networking equivalent of spam. Why should I connect with him? Just because he knows a bunch of people? Too bad there isn't a way to give people a "thumbs down" in LinkedIn.

You're more famous than you t

You're more famous than you think !! :o)

Anyway I don't have so much time to write actively in a Blog at the same time I use Blog Aggregators and other 'delicious' things to be informed.

Hi guy, I'm Carmelo Cutuli

Hi guy,

I'm Carmelo Cutuli and I want to explain to you my point of view

I read often your blog and I wished to connect to you tributing my esteem ... is that spamming? I simply thought that you are a well known US Blogger and be connected to you could open some opportunities.

I know you by reading your pages ... is that wrong?

Anyway I think that Social Networks are a very good way to socialize ... excuse me if I offered to you this opportunity :o)

Have a nice day
Carmelo

Carmelo, thanks for coming by

Carmelo, thanks for coming by and commenting. It was very strange to receive 2 connection requests from you -- it's nice that you come by and read my blog, but I had never seen a comment from you, never received an email from you, and generally don't know who you are.

I see by your comment that your connection request is one of esteem for me -- and that's why I turned you down: I don't know you well enough to connect to you.

It would be great to hear more from you, your thoughts on social networking, especially in a European setting. I see you have a website, but no blog or other content I can read. Blogger might be an easy way for you to start, since you can keep the content on your own site.

BTW, I'm not going to argue with "well known", but I'm based in Canada, not the US :p
