Unless, of course, you want a lot of grief.
The problems come down to this:
- the firewall blocks legitimate outgoing connections (like to my IMAP server); having to turn the firewall off is not a nice option, but it's your only choice
- the submit page for setting the address of a DMZ machine is broken, meaning you have to port forward a bunch of things manually
- the range/power of the 802.11g wireless is pathetic -- I didn't even get full bars a scant few feet away
- for some reason, even though I manually port-forwarded web connections to my home server, I could not connect to any domains hosted there from behind the router; external connections worked fine
- for the absolute crowning glory of all these problems, the InexQ website is inexplicably VBScript powered; I had hoped that firmware upgrades might solve some of these problems, but I can't even download them because you have to be running IE on Windows for that section of the website to even function; luckily, a friend with this combination went to the web page, clicked on the download link, and promptly received 404 errors.
I should have been warned by the fact that a search for InexQ returns InexQ crap as the second hit.
I think everyone can safely stay away from all InexQ products. Forever.

I have just bought a INEXQ
I have just bought a INEXQ Wireless Router (ISW055t). When I Enable 'WEP Only' Security from the security settings menu, then click the button to create the encryption keys, a pop-up window appears with nothing in it!! My gut feeling is that as in most threads in this forum, INEXQ is to be avoided. I hope someone can prove me wrong and just tell me I'm not doing something right!! Help anyone please?

i got Inexq ADSL Modem/Wireless router/4port switch for free and guess what? It's crap! Sorry for the spam, but i'd like to tell people to keep away from this company.
Wireless connection isn't ok at all(router is in a cupboard on the ground floor and i'm on the first floor - directly above the router. but it gets laggy if i move to another position upstairs!), and i can't access certain pages, as microsoft.com, hotmail.com, ebay.com, cisco.com nor amazon.com. Cannot connect to MSN either. If i remove the NAT, the modem just won't connect. And if i set IP manually, it does not open any pages at all :D - only irc client works. how sick is that?
I had Belkin wireless router on the previous house and that worked even on the second floors bathroom - which was next to the room that was exactly above the router. - so it was like 3 or 4 brick and plated walls between the laptop and the router! that was a mean machine! The house had 3 floors and like 20 rooms...
And not to mention that Inexq doesn't allow to change MTU - which in my case should solve the access problem.
So, if you like to get an headache and waste 2-3 days searching for the solution of the router's problems, then you can buy the Inexq router. Or you can buy Belkin Wireless router and set it up in 5 minutes and use wireless connection in every corner of your house :)
it's up to you.

forgot to say that the router is brand new and everything works fine with USB modem (although AOL browser gives http 400 error after logging on to hotmail webpage - AOL browser is piece of .... anyway, so no worries. everything works with IE and FF). Package provided by ISP is AOL Silver.

Swee LC000070
Just to add to this (slightly unrelated), I purchased a Sweex LC000070 and I'm wondering why the interface looks surprisngly similar to a US Robotics - see http://www.usr.com/support/8003/8003-ug/three.html
Wouldn't surprise me to find out that Sweex actually ripped off US Robotics router code which I'm guessing may now be under GPL (can't be sure of that). I very much doubt this is approved by USR.It would explain why Sweex are very secretive about their code though. Ever feel you're being conned ?
I upgraded the firmware, but
I upgraded the firmware, but I stll can't get my p2p apps working. The signal strength sucks for wireless. I really want my 60$ back! Unless iNeEXQ fixes these problems don't buy!
how do you and where do you
how do you and where do you get the firmware for the INEXQ WIADSLR04?????

I have one
I have a wireless router from inexq and i haven't had any problems with it.
Maybe something's wrong with yours. I have the 11b and my signal reception is pretty good.
INEXQ
I agree with you, I own one of these wireless routers plus the usb wireless end and it works awesome. I have put it on our laptop and I pickup signals that are usable and strong. My daughter owns a laptop with a wireless connection on it and it connects no probs. The signals are great. I only had a problem once and that was because my router was hit with a power surge, not its fault, just mine. For those out there that are having problems I would say that they do not know as much about wireless networks as they THINK THEY DO. I say that it does not matter what you purchase these days, if you do not know how to work it properly in the frist place you should not be bitch'n.
Just think about it, machines are just tools and if you do not know how to use your tool, well then . . . think about it.
hidden page on WF514 ISW054t LC000060
I found this page, don't know if is still does anything, in the original firmware there was a button in the log menu for intrusion log
http://192.168.62.1/intrusionLog
;-)
sweex lc000060 is the same router
At the Sweex website you can upgrade firmware
I discovered that using a dsl modem on the WAN side with 10Mbps does not work OK (hickups), but 100Mbps does...
Also Canyon has a WF514 and firmware
It does work, WEP works, port forwarding works
I surf now with it!
Good luck!
INEXQ Trouble
Hey guys,
I share all of your pains with the INEXQ router that I own. The signal is weak and drops often. I am still willing to deal with this however if I can get my neighbours to stop stealing my signal.
I lost my manual so I can't find the ROUTER IP nor the default LOGIN USER/PASSWORD.
Could someone please post this information or better email me at CHKOLNIKEA@GMAIL.COM
Thank you!!!

Inexq Router Problems
Well the software may be a bit daft but the routers here have worked flawlessly. I have both the the 802.11b & g models and have no problems what so ever. The first thing I did is update the fireware and perhaps in doing so avoided the faults listed here.
About the router disconnects, this may be no fault of the router at all and to totally slam a manufacturer for failures is plain ludicrious. It happens to them all. The original poster has some very good points, but this is hardly a business router and I think he should have purchased something with more security built in to the software and perhaps avoided these problems with some research instead of bitching. Take Care All...
The Inex BR400
Has alot of problems and its a huge waste of money DONT BUY IT ......DONT EVEN GET IT FOR FREE!!! Its such a pain to configure it and after about 2 months or less u will have to connect and dissconnect it every 10 min! WASTE OF ****ing money!
Suck it up Princess!! By
Suck it up Princess!! By the sounds of it, you'd complain about anything. Maybe you should take some classes on configurations. Hell, I am an extreme amature at this computer stuff and for myself it was my first try and it work great. After a few months down the road, after reading up on wireless configurations, I went over the setup manually and with in minutes it was setup so fine. Infact a buddy of mine that hacks computers for fun and as a security feature for companies tried to hack my system for me and he could not get into my setup. A number of months later we bought a new computer and my 10 year old son set the system up just using the literature that came with the wireless router. It did not have the security that it used to but it worked just fine. So, I wonder what that tells us about who knows their stuff. Think about it.
Lucky me
Hmm, I must be an exceptionally lucky guy.
My InexQISW054u has been working fine since last June. Ok, I have a few complaints but the main stuff seems to work: USB printer, wireless range, port forwarding, etc. It's not a great router but for the price, it seems to do what I want.
My complaints is that the config software they use sucks. Some setting can only be changed in IE. Not sure why but FireFox had trouble - didn't try other non-IE browsers but I FireFox didn't work. I also could not get their Proxy DNS to work - my entries would not stick. Firmware upgrade maybe?
My ISP was having trouble so I blamed some site access trouble to the router when in fact the ISP was getting some new equipment up. Now my problem is that this new equipment needs a new MTU size specified. I can't seem to change the MTU size which is required by my ISP. Maybe a firmware upgrade?
In anycase it works much better than my old SMC Barricade.
My INEXQ is just crap
My INEXQ was working fine for a month, after that is just crap, It disconects every 10 secs. I'm thinking to buy a new one any suggestion?
HELP
my internet connection is slow ass hell! i got rogers high speed internet too. is my router messed up?
I tend not to think that it
I tend not to think that it is your router that is the problems here, at least totally any way. If your Internet is coming through using the phone lines, chances are that it is your phone lines - either inside of your house or the crappy old ones that Bell has had in the ground since the starting of time, ha, ha. At my old place the connection sucked big time, then one wonderful day they dug them up and put in new fiberoptics and you'd be amazed how fast dialup can be!! Before that I had to have a program called Stay Connected running so that I could use the Net. Now I have high speed DSL and my same old INEQ wireless system and it flys like crazy. In other words check out the phone wiring in your house before totally complaining about anything else. Good luck and happy surfing!!!
GPL violator
It's a little known fact that the Inexq routers run Linux. There was a message on the linux kernel mailing list last year about this. Running 'strings' on the firmware from their web site clearly shows "Booting linux...". They have ignored emails requesting the source code. Don't support them.
Don't buy the ISW054T. It's a
Don't buy the ISW054T. It's a real POS even after upgrading the firmware, WEP and WPA doesn't not work, everytime you make changes it kicks your connection on the wireless and doesn't come back (reset was the only way I could get back in). That's what I get for tryin to save $10. Won't happen again, stick with what you know works or at least has a better review then the garbage InexQ is pumpin out.
Contact info for InExq
This is who I have spokemn to and actually gotten positive feedback / results from. He will respond to your email, and direct you to where u can get local support.
Good luck.

I bought the iso50t because it was $12.00 and most wired routers seem to cost more than the wirless ones. I have a nice linksys that was sitting there on my desk but why do I want to radiate myself constantly when my wife is not using her laptop?
So I bought this, and put the linksys on a switch. My problem is that the inexq websites are down and no one seems to be reporting anything about them except this loud smackdown junk.
Since they have a linux base I expect to be able to update it at some point, there are some assome features for only 12 bucks. What is going on with this company, whats the latest?
Is anyone providing official or unofficial updates? With the product so cheap it looks like its been dumped, I don't mind picking up the pieces at a song because I wasn't the one stupid enough to break copywrite on linux code!
I'm surprised how little information is out there given the number of people selling these products
Thanks in advance,
Barry
been looking into this
Interesting stuff going on out there. The Linksys I have is in fact a WRT54G v3.0, I didn't realize it was that cool and that easy to mod. Still I don't understand why everybody is such a hurry to crank up the radiation to the maximum possible level. I had to balk at the $60+ price tag for the Linksys wired only router, and I see little about hacking those units anyway.
I supose there is a convience advantage to putting your WAP on your WAN access point but I really don't see it. I suppose one could take a hacked Linksys and turn off the WAP... Of course I am posting on a dead thread so no one is likely to listen anyway ;)
So if anyone has wired router hacks I'd love to hear about them. I won't be holding my breath though, I'll be looking at DD-WRT and Sveasoft and probably hacking my Linksys instead.

Never buy any product from iNexQ
I buy a BR400 router from this company. It's down after sometime and I must reset (the reset buttom doesn't work, I must turn off the power and then turn on the power) to get it work. I send inquiry to the company I never get an answer and they don't have a upgrade for the product too. I register on their web site as a client, but I can never logon because they ask a password but they never send it to my email.
I have been using...
I have been using InexQ for the past 7 months (Wireless G).Things work fine, except for when I try to copy huge chunk of data between 2 pcs over the network, it fails. Otherwise everything is fine. the router is in the basement and the other 2 computers are in the first floor, but browsing never has been a problem for me or for my son, who is always on some game!!.
Inexq wired router
Just wanted to give you guys one tip for fixing (or at least jury rigging the router). I used to have problems with the router right out of the box. The router itself worked but would need to be reset every couple of hours
I came across one forum posting where people figured out what the problem was and how to fix it. Apparently, because of the thick piece of plastic that covers the top of the router, there was insufficient ventilation and the board was overheating.
Ever since I've taken the plastic cover off of it it's worked like a charm. I just hope my cat doesn't get too interested in the blinking lights and fry herself
you are correct.I had a
you are correct.
I had a problem with mine disconnecting and it was because my son and his buddies piled a load of paper on top of the wireless router and it overheated. I know of others who have other brands of these and it also happened to them to, go figure eh!!
INEXQ works just perfectly
I hate to tell everyone this but the INEXQ works just fine. I have read so much drivel from so many hapless souls that I just had to let potential customers know that this is a bargain piece of kit. A router with a USB printer port. The 3ft range claim is also complete bo**ocks, I can sit in my garden with my laptop and still surf the web quite happily. The router and the laptop are permanantly 10 ft apart anyway??
The instruction manual is great, so long as you do EXACTLY what it says.
The number of people who have consulted so called experts and blamed things on a virus (what on earth??!!) and operating systems is astonishing. As to how some numpty can hope to resolve problems with either of these two 'solutions' shows just how thick some people are.
Yes of course you will lose your ISP connection if you get part way through the installation and revert to your modem. That's because you have changed your network connection settings. The old connections are still there, it's just that you have told your PC not to use them anymore.
I wish people with no more brains than they were born with would stop wasting their precious few brain cells on posting proclamations of their ignorance on forums for all the world to see.
I actually typed up a foolproof set of installation instructions and sent them to the guy on Ebay that was selling these routers, as well as to anyone else that wanted them. I had emails of thanks from all and sundry, and both my and their routers have performed flawlessly since day 1, over a year ago.
Oh, and I don't have any virus protection, have never had a virus and probably never will. Just use the firewalls that your ISP, Inexq, and everyone else uses, along with common sense.
Right, that's me off my soapbox.
List of setings
Do you still have the foolproof set of installation instructions for the INEXQ router, I would love to get my hands on them as I have lost the instructions that came with it, Thanks.....Andrew
un-f***in-believable
I'ts amazing how many people have had the same problem with this piece of shit. we brought an inexq wireless router to set up at work, and until today had endless problems with setting everything up, managed to get a wireless network somehow, yet couldn't even access the routers configuration screen! (192.168.62.1), after a call to, ahem, 'technical' support, the 'technician' informed me that it could be a faulty box. excellent. the way to sell a product man. oh indeedy. what a bag of shit.
sorry about the langauge, but talk about a headache.
went out today, brought a belkin wireless router, plugged it in, absolutely sound. within half an hour all machines were pretty much talking to each other, now it's on to windows' strange behaviour - one machine is refusing access to the others, but thats another story...
CRAP!
Totaly agreed.I have the INEXQ wired router and i'm simply ...just like disconnected. I cant open a damn port, everything is closed, when i restart it - everything disconnected...my advice: Better without it!

Thanks for this post! I was just about to pick one up from eBay that was going cheap. Being sceptical of anything cheap, I Googled it and, it seems, saved myself a lot of hassle.
i just bought inexq wireless
i just bought inexq wireless - B/G PCI Adapter and a Inexq Wireless - B Broadband Router Plus USB Printr Server.....i have never had sooo much trouble with this CRAP...i could not play any of my on-line games, could not print to my net-worked printer...its just crap...and there web site, well lets just say that they did not think about the customer...DO NOT BUY!!!

i am connected to a inexq router in the next street , 300 ft away !and they work fine, i have sold 600 of these with no problems at all. The customers need at least 1 brain sell to Configure it !!!!!!!!!
I actually believe that you c
I actually believe that you can connect to the Inexq router at 300' as long as it is a CAT5 cable!
We only have one problem with the inexq router. (Since we disconnected the wireless) we only use it as a router.
One big pain is when connected to another computer via Remote Desktop if you walk away from your computer for more than 10 minutes you are disconnected. I know it's the router because if I plug the Cable modem directly into my computer I can go away for the weekend and when I get back on the Monday I am still connected.

I think thats conlusive proof
I think thats conlusive proof that it is ALWAYS a bad idea to insult people's intelligence, using bad spelling and poor grammar...
I couldn't agree more with yo
I couldn't agree more with you. I purchased one and it is crap. I tried to return it but the supplier would not accept it as it was out of the box. The store where I purchased it could not help me. Well the joke is on them, last week one of the owners called me to ask if I could help them with their wireless network. They had just recieved the Inexq "G" version of the router and found that the signal strength was weak...weak!! at 3ft no better than 1/2 power on the bars. Well I don't need to tell you that the router was returned along with mine and We are now waiting for two DLink 624's due to arrive tomorrow. Not linksys but a lot better than INEXQ's.

INEXQ Problems
I have an INEXQ wireless router and it is giving me grief to. It worked great for about 1 week and suddenly it wouldn't connect to my high speed modem. For some strange reason, the cables won't connect properly thus not allowing a connection at all!! How do I fix this one?
ISW050u heart aches
Hey Ya'all,
I have just had much the same problem. I have owned my ISW050u wireless for about one year and suddenly two weeks ago, it stopped working, AGAIN; and for no reason at all. I even tried to send them an e-mail using the support@inexq.com address. Also, it came back from the server saying that either there is a problem with the address or something else. I just want to get this thing up and running, again!! It has been nothing but a festering pimple on my butt. I am forever reconfiguring it, at least twice per month. Am I doing something wrong or is it the machine??
I sure wish that there was more help on their website that the little bit of crap that there is. I also have refured to the manual, the booklet and also the web for help, but nothing.
Oh help me PLEASE SOMEONE !!!!
Destressed in St. Marys
I am writing to let everyone
I am writing to let everyone who reads these - that our letters can be updated. with how things turn out.
My frustrations was not as a result of the wireless router, infact it was me, my own fault. I contacted INEXQ, used the support email address listed in my previous complainer's letter. Within a couple of days I recieved a phone call and an email from a very nice lady from Japan who helped me in realizing my problem. My problem was that I had an atitude, and used to be hooked up using dialup, then I moved and signed up with Sympatico and DSL. The lady from Japan helped me to remove the configurations from my computer for the dialup. It was not taken out/removed properly thus causing nothing but frustrations. Once I removed those settings it , my router, has work flawlessly now for close to our 2nd year. One word of advice though - keep it uncluttered because they get hot and stop working until you take the crap off of it!! I even purchased a laptop for my wife and a laptop for my daughter, and another new computer, as well as an exchange student from Australia have all been configured onto the system with not a problem either direction. I was, at that time, very impatient with everything in my life.
I just want to say thank you to the very nice lady from Japan who called me and emailed me to help me. From that time on, any questions that I ever have they get back to me within a reasonable time. We all need to understand that the technical support that many of these companies have is just a small staff that is usually spread out all over the world, who ever would of thought that someone from Japan would help a guy from Canada from a tiny little town like St. Marys, Ontario!! We need to be a lot more understanding of others in this world. Remember, everything we do has an effect on someone or something else, therefore we are responsible for our own actions - it can be our own fault just stand up and admit it. Thanks from John in St. Marys
Inexq routers
Do any of these Inexq routers allow you to monitor the users web activity? Like allow you to see the full url of a website they were on.
